The descriptions of lens are listed below. If you wish to replace or purchase an extra lens please specify in the  remarks columns on your order form.

Fixed Focal Distance Lens. (For Standard & Dome type only; surcharge would be excluded regarding replacement lens for infrared camera)

For Standard type

For Dome type

2.5mm Ultra Fish-eye Lens

The shape of objects will appear to be distorted. Suitable for short distance filming as the images of long distance objects will become obscure.

3.6 & 4mm Wide-angle & Standard Lens

The most common lens.

6 & 8mm Telescopic Lens

For long distance shooting.

12 & 16mm Powerful telescopic Lens

For ultra long distance shooting.

If you see a " (replaceable)" sign in our camera catalogue this means you are able to replace the camera's lens. Just specify which camera you would like to replace.  A surcharge of $10 is required for some models to install Fish-eye Lens.

Adjusting the iris

For a bright location we recommend a narrower iris lens such as F2.5 lens. F2.0 is the most popular standard lens. Wide iris lens, such as F1.2 lens are used in dim locations but it will be overexposed with light in bright locations. Auto iris lens will automatically adopt different amount of light, which is better but more expensive.

Apart from weatherproof cameras, most of the cameras are lenses replaceable. 1/3" CCD will have a wider viewing angle(15°more) than 1/4" CCD.In general, 2.5mm~2.8mm is suitable for shooting distance that is less than 15 ft CCD size and Lens focal length will affect the viewing angle. The following table is a summary of viewing angle for different CCD and Lens.

1/4" CCD (Dome type) 1/3" CCD (Dome type) 1/3" CCD (Standard type)
2.5mm 95 130 120
3.6mm 70 90 -
4mm - - 70
4.3mm 60 80 -
6mm 50 70 53
8mm 35 50 40
12mm 25 30 25
16mm 20 25 20
25mm 9 15 12

To select a suitable lens please follow the following steps <A> Measure the distance between the camera and the shooting target. We call this the viewing distance--L <B> Measure the viewing width--W. Use the following trigonometric formula to find out the viewing angle.     Viewing angle = 2 * Arc tan (W/2L)

Or find it now with this viewing angle calculator!
Enter your viewing Width (W)
Enter your viewing Distance (L)

Use this angle value to obtain a suitable lens from the table above.
